Description
José Orlando Padrón was born in Pinar del Río, Cuba 83 years ago and later immigrated to the US. In 1964, he founded Padrón Cigars to recreate the Cuban cigars he loved. The first Padróns were simple 30-cent fumas sold in Miami, but later expanded nationwide thanks to Padrón’s son Jorge, now the company’s president. The company values numbers and uses them in their branding – the 1964 Anniversary Series celebrates the company’s founding year and the Serie 1926 line honors José’s birth year. This year, they released the No. 2 cigar to celebrate José’s 80th birthday. It’s an exceptional cigar known for its depth, complexity and signature Padrón flavor of cocoa, coffee, nuts, toast, orange peel, leather, and spices. Only one buncher and one roller create 300 cigars per day using the company’s oldest leaves. The Padróns have a long-standing philosophy of making cigars they enjoy and selling the ones they don’t smoke. They’ve won the Cigar of the Year award twice and have never placed lower than third.
